PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new optical element for optical switching or optical modulation, and to impart functions such as molecule recognition, luminescence, charge transporting properties, optical characteristics and liquid crystal properties to the optical element by selecting a structure of a side chain of a polymer compound.
