<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic stop controller for an internal combustion engine which can suppress deterioration of startability at the restarting after automatic stop in the internal combustion engine capable of using a composite fuel of a first fuel and a second fuel, which have different startability, or a sole fuel of the first fuel or the second fuel. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the internal combustion engine capable of using a composite fuel of gasoline and alcohol, which have different startability, or using independently gasoline or alcohol, the automatic stop controller for the internal combustion engine automatically stops its engine operation based on a request for automatic stop. When the request for automatic stop is set and cooling water temperature THW is not higher than value on a cooling water temperature THW axis corresponding to a border line f (ALC, THW), automatic stop control of the engine is prohibited.
