A brick (10) with a recess (22) that is easy to place with one hand is disclosed. The brick (10) has a front wall (11), a pair of parallel end walls (13, 14), a rear wall (12, 16, 17, 18, 19), and top (15) and bottom faces. The dimensions of the brick (10) are about 230mm by 110mm (L) by 76 to 162mm (W). The rear wall (12) has a recess (22) extending into the width of the brick (10). The width of the brick (10) at this point is in the range of between 70mm to 100mm from the front wall (11). This smaller width is easy for a human hand to grasp thus making the brick less strenuous to move and place.
