PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing hollow spheres from an amphiphilic chitosan derivative for use in delivery of anticancer drugs, and amphiphilic chitosan derivative complexes for medical use. SOLUTION: There are provided hollow spheres from an amphiphilic chitosan derivative including a chitosan derivative represented by the chemical structural formula in the drawing and generating hollow spheres by self-assembly in a solvent. In the formula, R<SB>1</SB>s are each independently hydrogen, 1-4C alkyl, 1-6C carboxyl, sulfate, or phosphat; R<SB>2</SB>s are each independently hydrogen, 1-12C alkyl, 1-6C carboxyl or 2-12C acyl; and m is an integer of from 100 to 2,000.
