PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic image diagnostic apparatus with the function to display thumbnail images, where to display thumbnail images can not disturb an operator concentrating on the observation or inspection of main images, and he or she can easily search for or access to thumbnail images. SOLUTION: The ultrasonic image diagnostic apparatus is characterized in that it includes a display screen composition control part to control the screen composition of main and thumbnail image display on the apparatus monitor, an image DB to record and store all image data obtained, and a thumbnail image display control part that displays or indicates any data of the image DB to be displayed on the thumbnail display region to the display screen composition control part, and that when the image data in the course of acquisition is being displayed on the main image display region, the thumbnail display control part requires the treatment to lower the image luminance over the entire thumbnail display region or to cover the entire region with a filter layer to lower the image permeability from the display screen composition control part.
