Provided are an apparatus and a system for assisting in the use of a device, wherein, in screen transition data, data indicating whether a screen transition between operation screens is possible or not and a screen identifier for identifying an operation screen are made to correspond to each other.  In correspondence data, a manual item identifier and the screen identifier of an operation screen for executing the operation of an operation item specified by the manual item identifier are made to correspond to each other.  Based on the screen transition data and the correspondence data, the apparatus for assisting in the use of a device derives an operation screen corresponding to the manual item identifier obtained in a browse detection unit (3) and displays the operation screen in a device display unit (10).
