The present invention relates to novel therapeutic indications for trilostane or for a derivative thereof, as an antidepressant and as an anxiolytic. In particular, the invention shows that trilostane has a potentiated (increased) antidepressant effect in patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease. In addition, the elderly population is particularly targeted by this invention.
