The tool (1) has regions (7, 9, 11, 13) provided along an axial extension of the tool, a geometrically defined cutting edge (15) and a center axis (M). The regions are alternately made of ductile and hard materials. Another cutting edge is formed in an area of a radial step along the axial extension, and in the hard material. The hard material encompasses viscous material. A coolant- or lubricant channel penetrates the tool along the extension. The hard material includes polycrystalline diamond, polycrystalline boron nitride and/or chemical vapor deposition diamond.
