The monitoring device (1) has an actuator (8) cooperating with a switch head (7) in a closed condition of a protective device (2), so that a closed condition of the protective device is signalized. A tumbler device detachably locks the actuator at the switch head. The actuator is bringable in a position with respect to the switch head. The actuator is ready for locking in the position and is not locked in the position. A sensor element is provided for detecting and signalizing the position of the actuator, and is arranged in the switch head.
