The method involves utilizing more than one antenna at transmission terminals (UT1, UT2) and a relay station (R). Training sequences are transmitted by the transmitting stations in a training phase at a successive time period in a time frame. The received training sequences are amplified with an amplification matrix using an amplify and forward relay, where the amplification matrix is constant for the time frame. A transmission signal for one of the antennas is generated from a linear combination of the received training sequences.
