摘要 Glass or mineral wool fibres may be coated with an aqueous dispersion of a phenol-aldehyde or aminoplastic resin partial condensate with 0,25-1,0% by weight, based on the solids content of the dispersion, of a salt of a metal whose hydroxide, silicate and carbonate, when dissolved in water in any concentration, all have a pH not greater than 10,5. In a modification, the presence of the metal salt in the dispersion may be effected by passing the dispersion through a cation exchanger charged with cation exchange material which has been regenerated with a salt of such a metal. Specified resins are phenol-formaldehyde, urea-formaldehyde (which may be modified with ethylene glycol), and melamine-formaldehyde; specified metals are Al, Mg, Fe, Ti, Zr, Ag, Ni, Pb, Zn, Sn, Mn, Cr and Cu; and specified salts are aluminium and titanium sulphates, manganous and cupric acetate, and cupric chloride. In Examples:-(1) and (2) ammonia, a hydrocarbon mineral oil emulsified with ammonium stearate, and tap water are also added to such a phenol-formaldehyde dispersion; (3), as (1) and (2), but the emulsified oil is omitted: (5) a sulphonated styrene-divinyl benzene cation exchange resin in the sodium form was converted to the aluminium form by passing an aluminium sulphate solution through the column. A phenolformaldehyde resin was then run through the column to provide the coating material.
