PURPOSE: A light emitting diode and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to improve the optical extraction efficiency while having a low effect due to lattice constant disagreement a substrate and semiconductor material. CONSTITUTION: A bottom electrode(103) is arranged on a substrate(101). A template layer(105) is arranged on the bottom electrode and has a plurality of open areas. A plurality of nano-dashes(107) are grown up at a plurality of open areas of a template layer. A transparent insulating layer(109) is inserted into the nano dash. The upper electrode(110) is arranged on the nano dash and a transparent insulating layer.
