In general, the heating and the cooling of the working gas take place in different cylinders in a Stirling engine. For this purpose, the gas is pressed into said cylinders by way of a displacement piston. This results in significant friction losses. Friction losses can also take place in other engine concepts, such as internal combustion engines in 4-cycle or 2-cycle operation as a result of the lubricating film friction between the piston and cylinder. These disadvantages are solved by a piston machine having a partial torus cylinder and a partial torus piston, wherein the partial torus cylinder comprises an inner cylinder surface and an outer cylinder surface and the partial torus piston and the partial torus cylinder are arranged movably relative to each other by way of a guide means, wherein the guide means are designed such that an upper dead center and a lower dead center can be formed between the partial torus piston and the partial torus cylinder, and an expansion space forms in the upper dead center between the partial torus cylinder and partial torus piston. |
