1,010,103. Slicing bread. AMERICAN MACHINE & FOUNDRY CO. Sept. 20, 1963 [Oct. 1, 1962], No. 37094/63. Heading A4C. A bread slicing machine comprises continuously running bandsaws 20 through which loaves 190, 192 are successively pushed and includes a vertically movable platform 124, 126 the movement of which is synchronised with that of the pusher flights 72-82 whereby loaves randomly supplied to the platform 124 from a feed belt 180 are presented on raising the platform 124 into the path of the pusher flights 72-82. The machine includes an outfeed mechanism 96 having a continuous chain 98 with further pusher flights which engage the lower rear edge of the loaf after partial passage through the bandsaws 20 to ensure continuous movement of the loaves. A multi chain and sprocket mechanism controlling the feed mechanisms 30, 32, 96 is driven by a motor 40 which also drives a cam 103 acting through a spring 108 urged follower 104 on lever arms 112 the ends of which carry a platform lifting shaft 116. A stabilising arm 114 acts with the lever 112 in parallelogram fashion. A pivoted plate 128 adjacent the platform 124 is moved against a spring 130 to abut a stop 132 by a loaf advanced to the platform 124 whereby the plate edge 129 is moved clear of the path of vertical movement of the platform 124. When no loaf is located on the platform 124 upward movement of the latter due to the continuous rotation of the cam 103 is limited by engagement of a catch 136 with the lower edge 129 of the plate 128. The continuous bandsaws 20 are guided around drums 12, 22, 21 and 17 by a motor 10.
|
