The machine (10) has housing (12), in which two toothed wheels (29) are arranged. Bearing chambers (40, 42) are subjected with hydraulic fluid in two operating directions (72, 74) of the machine. The chambers form a hydrostatic bearing for toothed wheels. The housing has two connection channels (44, 46) for hydraulic fluid. The connection channels form an inlet or outlet in dependent of the operating directions. A radial tolerance balancing body (36) is provided with a coating e.g. metallic nickel coating, and arranged between a hollow wheel (32) and a pinion (30). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a vehicle steering system with hydraulic cylinders (2) a method for controlling a vehicle steering system.
