PURPOSE: A recording method of a PVR and a device thereof are provided to perform selective recording of program while adjusting bit rates is controlled in inversely proportional to playback frequency of each broadcasting program stored in HDD. CONSTITUTION: When residual storage capacity is more than predetermined reference capacity(S205), a recording unit records subscription recording or broadcasting program corresponding to the video recording with a first bit rate(S207,S209,S211). When the residual storage capacity is less than the predetermined reference capacity(S213), the bit rate are adjusted based on the playback frequency of a plurality of broadcasting program recorded in HDD(S215). An MPEG unit processes the adjusted MPEG with the adjusted bit rate.
