#CMT# #/CMT# The cover (11) has a translation guiding unit (20) installed between a fixed part (16) and a shell (14) for guiding the shell in translation with respect to the fixed part along a longitudinal direction (D). The guiding unit (20) has a U shaped piece (24) in which a profiled piece (22) is engaged. The piece (24) has a U shaped part with a base integrated with the shell and two free wings. The profiled piece (22) is adapted to slide between the wings along a given direction. The piece (24) has elastically deformable tongues to confine a rounded free edge (30) after locking. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Used for a steering column of a motor vehicle (claimed). #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The translation guiding unit is installed between the fixed part and the shell but not around the shell so that the need to provide cumbersome elements around the shell and to integrate the elements to the dashboard for guiding the shell during adjusting of the steering column is avoided.
