PURPOSE: A video display device with charge function of an external device, and a charging method thereof are provided to selectively activate a data transmission line or a power supply line through USB(Universal Serial Bus) interface. CONSTITUTION: An USB interface unit(110) is connected to an external device through a power supply line and a data transmission line. A main control unit(130) is connected to the external device. The main control unit activates the power supply line and the data transmission line according to a type of the external device. An USB control unit(120) determines the type of the external device according to reception of descript information from the external device.
