The crank shaft (1) has connecting rod bearings (2), multiple main bearings (6) and crank arms (3,4) provided between the main- and connecting rod bearings. The crank shaft is manufactured as one-piece. The crank shaft is cracked at crack positions (12-15) and is again connected after application of a connecting rod on the connecting rod bearings adjacent to the crack position. The connecting rod is made up of a ceramic composite material. An independent claim is included for an internal combustion engine with a piston.
