The unit (5) has a lower side piece (10) connected with a vehicle floor, and an upper side piece (9) connected with a footrest plate of a vehicle. The upper side piece is connected with the lower side piece over a bending section (11), where the bending section is designed in a semi-circular shape. The side pieces are deformable under the influence of a force in different deformation sectors that are arranged opposite to each other transverse to a force direction, where the force is aligned perpendicular to the vehicle floor. An independent claim is also included for a deformation device comprising upper and lower connection units.
