A tank filter, the upper part of which encloses filtering elements and the bottom part of which is comprised of at least one funnel provided with a draining valve, is provided with a partial-draining pipe, the inlet of which is located immediately below the filtering elements and the outlet of which discharges, via a valve, into an outside vessel. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, a tank filter is comprised of upper part 2, enclosing pocket filters 3, and funnel 4 fitted with draining valve 5. Partialdraining pipe 7 discharges into an outside vessel. Liquid to be filtered enters at 16 while filtrate is discharged at nozzles 6. Periodically, pipe 7, the inlet 8 of which may be formed by an elongated hole 13, is opened and liquid supply pipe 16 closed. The liquid above the inlet of 7 is drained, and under the action of air from nozzles 6, agglomerated sludge 12 is removed from the filter elements and falls into funnel 4. The liquid removed may be recycled to the supply pipe 16. When funnel 4 is filled with sedimented sludge, it is totally drained by opening valve 5. Funnel 4 is large enough to hold the sludge from a plurality of partial drainings. Thus the ratio of solid to liquid in the material drained by valve 5 is increased. In a further embodiment (not shown), the partial-draining pipe is placed centrally under the filter elements and provided with a cap for protection against falling sludge. |
