1,007,869. Screening apparatus. CRANCO ENGINEERING Ltd. Jan. 23, 1964 [Sept. 17, 1963], No. 36450/63. Heading B2H. [Also in Division B6] A sieve or printing screen 26 is tensioned preparatory to being secured to a frame (not shown) by gripping members 15, 16, which are moved outwardly simultaneously by an operating mechanism 11 so that the screen is uniformly tensioned. The screen 26 is secured by clamps 25, Fig. 5, to four rubber-seated channels 15, 16 which are moved outwardly in unison under the toggle action of links 18, 19, 20, Fig. 2, the links being pivoted to members 13, 14 which are threaded on a shaft 12 and moved outwardly to tension the screen upon rotation of a handwheel 11. The frame, which has its upper surface prepared with, for example, a coating of thermoplastic, is then raised into contact with the screen on its supporting platform 30, Fig. 1, by means of links 32 pivotally-connected to one or more screwthreaded shafts 34 operated by handwheels 35. In a modification, the gripping members 16 are rigidly connected to the members 13, 14 while the gripping members 15 are connected to the members 13, 14 by a link at each end. The prepared surface is then activated by heat or solvent applied through the screen so as to effect adhesion. A number of frames may be applied to the same screen and then cut out. |
