The production of blood meal, for protein enrichment of cattle food and for fertilizer, is by heating the raw blood continuously, e.g. by direct injection of steam, to a temperature at which the blood coagulates, continuously de-watering the coagulated blood, and drying the de-watered, coagulated blood in a continuously operating drier. Advantageously the raw blood is preheated at a temperature below the coagulation temperature before the coagulation heating is undertaken. |
