<p>Disclosed is a liquid crystal aligning agent containing a radiation-sensitive polyorganosiloxane which is obtained by reacting at least one material selected from the group consisting of polyorganosiloxanes having a repeating unit represented by the formula (1) below, hydrolysis products thereof and hydrolysis-condensation products thereof with a cinnamic acid derivative having at least one group selected from the group consisting of a carboxyl group, a hydroxyl group,-SH,-NCO,-NHR (wherein R represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1-6 carbon atoms),-CH=CHand-SOCl.
