A method of manufacturing a control circuit for an active matrix display (LCD or OLED), wherein the control circuit comprises a plurality of chiplets 103 which are transfer printed onto a display substrate, the method comprising positioning the control circuit outside the display area 101; wherein the output of the control circuit to the display area is distributed among the plurality of chiplets. Due to the chiplets small size more of the substrate can be devoted to display area.
