1,102,266. Sealed alkaline cells. SOCIETE DES ACCUMULATEURS FIXES ET DE TRACTION. 24 Feb., 1966 [24 Feb., 1965], No. 8300/66. Heading HlB. A Ni/Cd or Ag/Cd alkaline storage cell having the electrodes and separators in a block and having no free electrolyte has an additional porous layer constituting a support for a metal more electropositive than, and in contact with, the negative electrode over the whole of the surface-active material. The separation between adjacent electrodes of differing polarity is between 0À1-0À3 mm. and the electrodes are not more than 1.0 mm. thick. The cell may be hermatically sealed because the metal (preferably silver) of the porous layer prevents evolution of hydrogen. |
