A monoclonal antibody that specifically binds to α&bgr;and inhibits the binding of α&bgr;to latency associated peptide (LAP) with an ICvalue lower than that of 10D5. The invention further relates to a hybridoma producing the antibody (ATCC accession number PTA-3647, PTA-3649, PTA-3645, PTA-3646, PTA-3898, PTA-3899, PTA-3900), to a method of detecting α&bgr;a tissue sample from a mammal, a composition for preventing or treating a disease mediated by α&bgr;in a mammal, and use of the composition for the preparation of medicinal agent. |
