A method for producing stainless steel includes melting high-carbon melt (semiproduct) preliminary alloyed with chromium in the electric-furnace melting unit, semiproduct discharge into the intermediate pouring ladle, pouring semiproduct into the vessel of gas-oxygen refining with the bottom air blasting, bringing to the final chromium content in the melt to the value of the finished steel by introducing in the melt of chromium-containing component, semiproduct decarbonization in two periods by its blowing with oxygen and/or gas-oxygen mixtures to the achievement at the end of each of the periods specified carbon content. Melt blowing with oxygen in the first period of decarbonization is carried out in three stages.
