PURPOSE: A composition containing Momordica charantia L. enzyme treated extract is provided to suppress accumulation of sorbitol and to prevent and treat diabetes complications. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing and treating diabetes complications contains Momordica charantia L. enzyme extract as an active ingredient. The extract is isolated using water, low alcohol of C1-C4, hexane, ethyl acetate, petroleum ether, or organic solvent of chloroform, or mixture solvent of water. A method for preparing the extract comprises: a step of pulverizing Momordica charantia L. and adding organic solvent or mixture of organic solvent and water; a step of centrifuging and collecting supernatant; a step of filtering the supernatant; and step of concentrating and freeze-drying the liquid.
