<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide machine tools 1, 1' having machine elements 6, 6' which are fed in the feeding direction X via transmission devices 17, 17' by a first motor 7, and a vibration damping method for the machine elements 6, 6' of the machine tool. <P>SOLUTION: The machine tools 1, 1' have second motors 15, 15' which give force F to the machine elements 6, 6' in the feeding direction X of the machine element. The second motors 15, 15' directly give force F to the machine elements 6, 6' without connecting transmission devices between the second motors 15, 15' and the machine elements 6, 6'. The second motors 15, 15' are controlled so that the force F generated by the second motors 15, 15' counteract the vibration of the machine elements 6, 6' directed in the feeding direction X of the machine elements 6, 6'.
