PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing a discharge port for discharging waste toner from being erroneously opened. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a waste toner discharge port 19 for discharging the waste toner conveyed from a cleaning means (cleaning unit 14) for cleaning an image carrier 10; and a waste toner bottle 20 for storing the waste toner discharged from the waste toner discharge port 19. In the image forming apparatus, a shutter member 21 for opening and closing the waste toner discharge port 19 is surrounded by a hollow member, the waste toner bottle 20 includes an engagement part 22 engaged with the shutter member 21 in the waste toner bottle 20, and the engagement part 22 is engaged with the shutter member 21, to move the shutter member 21 to the open position of the waste toner discharge port 19, in the waste toner bottle 20.
