<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device composed of a CCU and a CHU which are connected via a cable, which realizes a high image quality of captured image data while improving the degree of freedom in arranging the CCU and CHU. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A clock signal generation section 26 generates a clock signal and supplies it to a CHU 13 through a clock signal transmission path 12f. A cable length detection section 27 detects a cable length of a cable 12. A timing control section 29 advances a phase of a synchronization signal outputted by an image data processing section 34 to output the signal to a synchronization signal transmission section 31. A time for which a phase of the synchronization signal is advanced by the timing control section 29 is determined by acquiring a delay time and the like corresponding to a cable length notified from the cable length detection section 27, from a reference table 30.
