PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an esterification inhibitor and an esterification inhibiting method which effectively inhibit the formation of an ester compound in the composition comprising a nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug having a carboxy group in the molecule and 1-menthol at the same time. SOLUTION: A metal carbonate as an esterification inhibitor which inhibits the esterification of a nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug having a carboxy group in the molecule with 1-menthol is provided. Further, an esterification inhibiting method by a metal carbonate which inhibits the esterification of a nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug having a carboxy group in the molecule with 1-menthol is provided.
