TGF-αexpression inhibitors and transformation inhibitors for hepatitic and/or cirrhotic cells containing as the active ingredient polyprenyl compounds such as polyprenyl carboxylic acids (for example, 3, 7,11,15-tetramethyl-2,4,6,10,14-hexadecapentaenoic acid). These drugs are usable as inhibitors for the onset, recurrence (secondary carcinogenesis) or malignant alteration of cancer in the liver.
