A blade drive device (1) is provided with a base plate (50) having a light path opening (51), and also with blades (10, 20) cooperating with each other to set to a predetermined level the amount of light passing through the light path opening (51).  The blade (10) has an opening (15), and the blade (20) has a cutout section (21) cooperating with the opening (15) to set the amount of light, and also has a cutout section (23) cooperating with the opening (15) to set the amount of light.  The cutout section (23) is overlapped on the blade (10) when the cutout section (21) and the opening (15) together set the amount of light.
