The invention relates to an electric machine comprising a radial slot cooling system in the stator lamination stack (12) and the rotor lamination stack (7), a main cooling air flow being axially guided from two sides into the rotor lamination stack (7) and radially through slots of the rotor lamination stack (7) and the stator lamination stack (12). A partial air flow also flows through the end windings (15). The housing (1) of the electric machine has an outlet opening (18) through which the heated exhaust air can escape. On the closed sides of the housing (1) of the electric machine the exhaust air first has to axially flow through axial ribs (11) to the end of the stator lamination stack (12) to be able to escape towards the open side of the housing (1). In order to prevent the exhaust air and the partial cooling air flow and the main cooling air flow from obstructing each other, dividers (10, 20) are provided.
