<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress useless power consumption during mode selection, in which a mode for outputting only video images or outputting only audio is selected, in a portable digital broadcast receiver. <P>SOLUTION: A digital broadcast receiver comprises: a digital reception demodulator 51; a video decoder 52; a display device 6; an audio decoder 53; a speaker or earphone 9; a manipulator 10; and a controller 11. When an audio mode for playing back only audio is selected by the manipulator 10, operations of the video decoder 52 and the display device 6 are suspended and when a video mode for playing back only video images is selected, operations of the audio decoder 53 are suspended. Thus, operations of unnecessary processing circuits are suspended in accordance with a user's viewing style, thereby suppressing power consumption that is one of considerable problems in the portable digital broadcast receiver. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
