PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate for bio-sensing having new structure which causes large variation in reflectance when protein, DNA and the like are combined with or adsorbed to the surface of the substrate. SOLUTION: The substrate 10 for bio-sensing includes: a substrate lower layer 5 composed of a metal or an alloy; a dielectric thin film 4 formed on the substrate lower layer 5; and a metal thin film or an alloy thin film 3, formed on the dielectric thin film 4, which causes abnormal reflection. Using the abnormal reflection allows bio-sensing to be done with simple reflection to reduce the cost of a bio-sensing chip and a detecting system thereof. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
