<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper tray unit capable of detecting the length of paper by one length detecting sensor, regardless of the kind number of the paper size tried to be discriminated. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This document tray unit (the paper tray unit) 1 has a document tray 6 for setting the paper to be supplied to a paper carrying passage, a width guide 7 movably arranged on the document tray 6 orthogonally to the paper feeding direction and positioning the paper set on the document tray 6 in the width direction, a width detecting sensor 10 for detecting a width of the set paper by detecting a position of the width guide 7, and a length detecting sensor 11 movably arranged in the paper feeding direction by interlocking with the movement of the width guide 7 and detecting the length of the set paper.
