PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bulk glass composition useful as an electronic material and an optical material. SOLUTION: The production method for a glass composition includes a process where a mixture containing components (A) to (C) is melted at 1,300 to 1,800°C, the process satisfying the following blending condition 1 or 2: the blending condition 1: the amount of an In element-containing compound (A) occupied in the whole of the mixture is 70.0 to 90.0% expressed in terms of oxide; the amount of one or more compounds (B) containing metallic elements selected from among Si, Ge, B, P, As and Te occupied in the whole of the mixture is 1.0 to 25.0 wt.% expressed in terms of oxide; and the amount of one or more compounds (C) containing metallic elements selected from among Zn, Ga and Ti occupied in the whole of the mixture is ≤30.0 wt.% expressed in terms of oxide; and the blending condition 2: the amount of an In-containing compound (A) occupied in the whole of the mixture is ≥25.0 to <70.0 wt.% expressed in terms of oxide; the amount of one or more compounds (B) containing metallic elements selected from among Si, Ge, B, P, As and Te occupied in the whole of the mixture is ≤20.0 wt.% expressed in terms of oxide; and the amount of one or more compounds (C) containing metallic elements selected from among Zn, Ga and Ti occupied in the whole of the mixture is 25.0 to 70.0 wt.% expressed in terms of oxide.
