<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a receiving device that makes appropriate switching between diversity reception and single reception and selects a branch capable of appropriate reception when switching to the single reception. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A receiving device 100 comprises: a plurality of tuner sections 102, 202 connected to two antennas 101, 201 receiving digital broadcast waves, respectively; and a digital signal demodulation circuit 103 connected with outputs of these tuner sections 102, 202. The digital signal demodulation circuit 103 receives the output signals of baseband processing sections 110, 210 in the respective branches, and has a control section 132 for outputting a control signal to each of the branches in accordance with the determination result obtained by comparing a modulation error ratio indicating the quality of each signal with a plurality of preset thresholds.
