<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a support method of a PVA-based film roll without causing a blocking phenomenon, by preventing pressure by its support tool, even if both end parts of a polyvinyl alcohol-based (hereinafter referred to as PVA-based) film roll are supported by the support tool. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When supporting the PVA-based film roll 1 formed by winding a PVA-based film 1b on a cylindrical core pipe 1a in a substantially horizontal state, a tool having a base board 2a, a fitting part 2b formed to project at a right angle to a central part of one surface of this base board 2a and fitted in both ends of the cylindrical core pipe 1a and a horizontal projection part 2c formed in at least two places of a lower end part of the one surface of the base board 2a, is used as the support tool 2.
