PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact image display device in which the position of an image substantially does not vary even when the position of an observer's pupil varies. SOLUTION: The image display device includes: a light source 3; a scanning means 5 which scans a luminous flux from the light source; a first reflection means 6 which reflects the luminous flux from the scanning means; and a first optical means 7 which guides the luminous flux from the first reflection means to the observer's eye. The optical paths of the luminous flux scanned with the scanning means intersect at the position EP of the exit pupil of the first optical means. The image display device moves the position at which the optical paths of the luminous flux intersect by moving the optical paths of the luminous flux directed to one and the same image position by moving each of the scanning means and the first reflection means.
