摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic cleaning mechanism capable of ensuring stable meshing of a drive gear by preventing misalignment thereof without the need of detaching the drive gear for replacement of cleaning members. SOLUTION: The mechanism, provided at a laser scanner unit (scanning optical device) in which a light emission opening for light emitted from a scanning optical system is covered with a dust-proof glass 4. The cleaning members (a retention member 8 and a cleaning pad 9) are screwed to be engaged with a screw shaft 7 one end of which in the axial direction the drive gear 15 is attached to. In the automatic cleaning mechanism 5 which automatically cleans the dust-proof glass 4 by rotating the screw shaft 7 and moving the cleaning pad 9 along the dust-proof glass 4, the screw shaft 7 is removable with respect to the drive gear 15, which is disposed between a first bearing 11 and a second bearing 12 formed at a plate 14, and the drive gear 15 is rotatably fitted and retained by at least one of the bearings 11 and 12.
