PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve ventilation performance in an internal combustion engine and inhibit oil from deteriorating and becoming clouded by setting the direction of a flow of fresh air and blow-by gas in one direction, enabling ventilation without the fresh air and the blow-by gas being mixed in a middle, and preventing the blow-by gas from staying in a chain cover. SOLUTION: A first blow-by gas passage 25 having an outlet to an intake system 8 at one end part is provided at a head cover 5 independently from an inside of a cam chamber. A fresh air passage 22 supplying the fresh air 15 into the cam chamber is provided independently from the first blow-by gas passage 25. A second blow-by gas passage 30 providing communication between an inside of a crank room 7 and the first blow-by gas passage 25 is provided in the chain cover 4. A first communication passage 28 providing communication from the inside of the crank room 7 to the first blow-by gas passage 25 and a second communication passage 24 leading the fresh air 15 from the cam chamber into the crank room 7 are mutually independently provided.
