The method involves providing a flat steel strip (1), and fixing a punching area. A flat steel strip surface (1.1) is molded in the punching area by a separate molding tool for defining an external geometry of a manufactured component such that the strip includes a reduced thickness (S) in the punching area. The strip is pressed such that a pressing tool is introduced from a side at the flat steel strip. The side is turned away from the molded strip surface. A workpiece is polished after pressing the strip. The molding of the strip is implemented as pretreatment of the surface. An independent claim is also included for a bearing disk of an axial bearing having a molding surface on a flat steel strip surface.
