PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing fired lime by firing a material to be fired containing calcium carbonate, which suppresses dam ring growth in a firing furnace efficiently and at a low cost using even a small amount of powder containing magnesium oxide having magnesium oxide particles. SOLUTION: In a method for producing fired lime by firing a material to be fired containing calcium carbonate, the material to be fired containing calcium carbonate is fired while introducing magnesium oxide powder containing magnesium oxide particles having a median value of the particle distribution of 8-20μm into a firing furnace.
