<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving device that is further miniaturized (reduced in height). Ž<P>SOLUTION: The driving device (10A) includes an electromechanical transducing element (13), having a first end surface (13a) and second end surface (13b) facing each other in the expansion/contraction direction; a static member (11A) fixed to the first end surface of the electromechanical transducing element; an oscillating friction section (14A) fixed to the second end surface of the electromechanical transducing element; and moving members (121 and 122) frictionally coupled to the oscillating friction section. The moving members can move in the expansion/contraction direction of the electromechanical transducing element (13), and the first end surface (13a) and second end surface (13b) of the electromechanical transducing element (13) are embedded in the static member (11A) and oscillating friction section (14A).
