An optical network system comprises a node (1-1) which converts the input signals from n systems into the optical signals having different wavelengths correspondingly to the systems, performs wavelength-multiplexing, and outputs the wavelength-multiplexed signal and a node (1-2) which selects and outputs the respective signals of the n systems from the wavelength-multiplexed signal. The node (1-1) comprises an optical coupler (11) which splits the input signals into operating system signals and redundant signals, TPNDs (12-1 to 12-n) which convert the operating system signals into the optical signals, an optical switch (13) which selects a standby system signal from the redundant signals, and a TPND (12-(n+1)) which converts the standby system signal into the optical signal in the accommodation mode corresponding to the type of the standby system signal. The node (1-2) comprises TPNDs (14-1 to 14-n) which convert the optical signals converted from the operating system signals into signals of the corresponding type, a TPND (14-(n+1)) which converts the optical signal converted from the standby system signal into a signal whose type is that of the input signal in the corresponding accommodation mode, and an optical switch (15) which selects the output destination of the signal outputted from the TPND (14-(n+1)).
