PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress over temperature increase in a recording material non-conveyance region, by making dissolution of heat insufficiency and suppression of abnormal temperature increase compatible, in an end region of the longitudinal direction of a heating element. SOLUTION: This image heating device includes a heating element 11, a heating rotating body 13 that has at least a base layer 131 and an elastic layer 132 disposed on the outer periphery of the base layer and rotates in a contact state with the heating element, and a pressurizing member 20 that comes into contact with the heating rotating body and forms a nip section N. The image heating device heats an image, while gripping and conveying a recording material P for carrying the image T with the nip section. In the heating rotating body, the thermal conductivityλe of the thickness direction between the inner surface and the outer surface of a recording material non-conveying region Wa is larger than the thermal conductivityλc in the thickness direction between the inner surface and the outer surface of a recording material conveying region Wb of the longitudinal direction orthogonal to the recording material conveying direction.
